Taiwo Babatunde Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, was born on October 31, 1959, in Ilaro, Ogun State. He grew up in Ilaro, where his family home was located. Ogogo began his education at Christ Church School in Ilaro before moving to Lagos to attend Gazikia College. Unfortunately, financial challenges forced him to drop out, after which he enrolled in a technical college. He later worked as an automobile mechanic at the Water Corporation, a job he held for 13 years.
Ogogo’s passion for acting began in 1981, though he continued working at the Water Corporation until 1994, when he finally left to pursue acting full-time. His family had a strong tradition of twins, he himself was a twin, as were his father and grandfather.
His first major film role came in Atitebi (1994), and over the years he became a respected figure in the Yoruba film industry. His last appearance was in Anikulapo (2024), where he played Alaafin Ademuyiwa.
Ogogo passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, after battling stage-four cancer. His daughter, Kira Taiwo, confirmed his death during a live session on Instagram.
