I feel like it’s a GREAT time to share facts about ACTUAL Hell 😂 1. The times that Jesus mentions Hell in the NT actually refer to Gehenna, which is a physical place south of Jerusalem known for human sacrifice by fire. 2. Gehenna (as a physical place) overtime became a metaphor for a place in the afterlife where the soul is cleansed and purified before reuniting with God… with only the most evil people’s souls being completely destroyed. 3. Gehenna (place in the afterlife) is commonly associated with the Lake of Fire… which is where the misconception of “Hell” comes from. 4. “Hell” is an umbrella term referring to a variety of places including Sheol (Jewish underworld, like a dark place of eternal sleep where everyone goes), Gehenna, The Abyss (where Fallen Angels and Demons are punished), and The Lake of Fire. 5. Judaism doesn’t have the same concept of “Hell” that Christianity does… Jesus was Jewish. Why would the afterlife change completely just because Jesus came? Doesn’t make sense.
