This person is my soulmate, the love of my life. He is me, and I am him. We are one. And everyone who has heard about our separation is shocked, because nobody can understand how this could have happened. Everyone says, “You two are the last couple we ever thought would separate.”
And he himself told me that if someone had told him ten weeks ago that all of this would happen, he would have replied, “Not in a million years.”
And I am suffering so much. I feel dead inside.
He left me two weeks ago. We texted each other for hours, going back and forth, and once again he explained to me that it is definitely over. He has fallen in love and says he can no longer imagine a life without this woman — even though he has only known her for five weeks.
And apparently, 23 years together, 16 of them married, are suddenly supposed to mean nothing when you meet someone you have known for only five weeks.
Just eight weeks ago, at his request, we bought new furniture together. Two and a half months ago, we celebrated our wedding anniversary. And he even publicly commented under one of my posts, “I love you, my sweetheart.”
And now it is suddenly supposed to be over.
And yet, deep in my heart, I still believe that our story has not been completely written yet.
I don’t know what is happening right now. I don’t know whether there is actually something spiritual behind all of this, or whether there is another explanation that I simply cannot see at the moment.
But I cannot ignore this feeling that something about all of this is deeply unlike him.
And despite everything, deep in my heart, I still believe that our story has not been completely written yet.
Sometimes two people have to go through the silence, the pain, and the distance before they realize that what connects them is stronger than what drove them apart.
