@_eliananana: Flexible jobs for chronically ill people, part 4: one off, part time work to earn a bit of side cash #chronicillness #disability #flexiblework #remotework Note these suggestions are for people who genuinely feel capable of some work, but need more flexibility, NOT people who are too sick and disabled to work (I was unable to work myself due to chronic illness for 4 years). @Preply

Finally! I have Chiari Malformation and I literally can’t leave my house. This video really helped. I’ve found that settlement money from class action lawsuits help. It’s not a lot of money but all money helps. 😊

Just be careful with pet sitting (coming from a professional pet sitter with chronic illness) some people expect you to do A LOT with their pets or have pets that need a lot of work. For example I’m sitting for someone at the moment who’s dog needs to be walked a mile 4 times a day however owner told he should be fine without it, if you don’t he literally screams in your face all day. All this to say, be careful, ask clarifying questions and always meet clients and their pets before you are stuck sitting for them

Construction admin can be great for anyone familiar with trade work / engineering / admin work. Most contractors and firms will employ remote admins :)

I'm house bound, I can't barely go out and if, I need to be driven around. I'm living very much on the countryside, so it's not easy to get around and especially if you don't have a license and car. So all I can do is work remotely but no one wants someone with no experience and/or a degree 🙃 Which leaves me with no money at all when I so badly need some. Been trying for years but nope. Unfortunately I'm not creative either or (for preply) know how to teach + I'm very introverted aswell. Half the year I'm on a different continent and I was told I can't use prolific if I'm not in my home country 🥲🙃

I started pet sitting three years ago to fill in gaps when I’m having bad flares🐾 word-of-mouth with friends and family is a great way to get people started, it’s been wonderful♥️

If people are able to push through for periods of time but need scheduling flexibility, substitute teaching is great! How much it pays varies a LOT depending on where you are tho, some areas it lowkey prob isn’t worth it, some areas it pays pretty well! You can literally decide whether or not to work that day the night before or morning of, and there’s no pressure to pick up jobs and normally as long as you sub a certain number of days per year (for me it’s 20) it’s totally fine if you don’t work at all for weeks or months, bc the way it works genuinely no one notices and no one cares and it does not negatively impact anyone. But everyone loves subs and is always happy when you’re there!

Depop! I sell my own stuff (ex shopping addict), and get free clothes and stuff off marketplace groups to sell! I got to the post office almost every day but I don’t do much active work besides taking pictures and packing up bags.

These are great ideas! I am gonna look into several. I started a small business making things at home and I just launched a mail club hoping it helps for a while. It's been a lot of fun and giving me a creative outlet and purpose. 🫶

As someone who was a pet care professional before I got Long Covid big heads up if you are trying it don't see it an an easy side hustle, with dog care especially it can be dangerous and very physically demanding. It varies by location to some degree but a lot of people use the on demand apps because their dogs have behavioral issues and have been kicked out of other businesses. Don't try dog care if you don't know how to read body language, wouldn't be equiped to handle a medical emergency, split up a dog fight if there was an incident on the street while walking or wouldn't know what to do if the owner didn't appropriately disclose aggression or reactivity. You hear the viral stories about bad pet sitters hurting animals often but there have also been an increase in incidents of people without experience trying dog care and getting mauled or otherwise injured. Dogs are great, but they can be dangerous and dog care is a skilled profession not an easy gig and on demand pet care apps don't protect either party.
