They'll turn a simple 10min ticket or possibly a verbal warning into a whole weekend stay in the county jail plus a notice to appear for a list of felonies in 60 days. It doesn't make any sense to try to fight a ticket on the side of the road and make Everything worse.

Police Officer here...2 weeks ago...at 1am, I stopped a car. I just wanted them to turn on their headlights. I did not run the tag beforehand. Walked up to the car. Before I could say, turn your headlights on...I got cussed out, stopped them because of the color of their skin that I cannot possibly see at night.. I say, I just wanted to tell you...... Cussed out more, I want your supervisor....I had not intended to check their license because I didnt care but now... I need your license... which NOW I run....License suspended and no insurance on the car... Now, here's your ticket for driving while license and no financial responsibility (No insurance) and im towing your car....plus when I run your license which I never intended on running it shows you have a warrant and now I need to serve it and take you to jail...which I absolutely did not want to do because I was hungry and ready to go home....I just wanted you to turn on your headlights....I didnt care enough to run anything.

It’s real simple, if you are nice, you can ask for a warning. I do it when I get pulled over all the time. Usually I get the warning. I ask them things unrelated to the stop.

I come from a cop family … some of the stories I hear from them are absolutely insane 😱… when you’re rude and disrespectful count on being taken in or getting that ticket +… it’s not hard …
