@deltabolic: Machine Preacher Curl Variations (KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!) Almost all curling variations involve the biceps, brachialis, and brachioradialis to some degree. However, changing your grip can shift the relative emphasis between these muscles. Supinated Grip (palms up) – Places the biceps in its most mechanically advantageous position, giving it the greatest relative emphasis. The brachialis still contributes, while the brachioradialis generally has less relative emphasis. Pronated Grip (palms down) – Places the biceps at a mechanical disadvantage, reducing its relative contribution. This makes the brachialis and brachioradialis relatively more important for elbow flexion. Neutral Grip (thumbs up) – Provides a more balanced contribution from all three muscles. The biceps remains highly involved, while the brachialis and brachioradialis contribute relatively more than during a traditional supinated curl.
