@dr.boyce.finance: AI may change the world—but that doesn’t mean every AI stock is worth buying at every price. This week, investors should be paying close attention to Nvidia because its earnings can tell us a lot about the health of the entire AI boom. Billions of dollars are flowing into chips, data centers, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Google are spending enormous amounts of money preparing for an AI-driven future. But investors need to ask a simple question: When does all that spending turn into sustainable profits? This is where investing psychology becomes dangerous. When everybody believes something is the future, FOMO can cause investors to stop caring about valuation. We saw something similar during the dot-com boom. The internet really did transform the world—but plenty of investors still lost money because they paid too much for companies that couldn’t justify their prices. That’s why I always separate two questions: Is this technology revolutionary? And is this stock a good investment at today’s price? Those are not the same question. Also watch interest rates. Higher rates increase the discount rate investors apply to future earnings, which can put additional pressure on highly valued growth stocks. The goal isn’t to fear AI. The goal is to own great assets intelligently instead of chasing whatever happens to be popular.
