Fareed is a little off on this one: missed the real point of unfettered pollution with data centers, as well as uncontrolled, and questionable utility of AI “growth,” as well as the bubble and false promises of AI. People have a right to question it, have a right to ask it slow down, and have very real concerns RE data centers and AI. As someone who lived in the Bay Area during the 90s tech boom: this is very different. And there were a lot of mistakes made back then in terms of the “we, tech bros. Are the good guys, don’t worry,” they turned out not to be the good guys, and we should’ve been more worried

We are losing to China in Ai, we will no longer be a leading country if we don't step up, everyone talks about Alpacs but what about the money China is paying our politicians to deny data centers in our county's.

combine data centers to store all collected data, flock cameras to surveillance us and AI to process all of our personal information. then consider what all the people building these systems have already done and an Orwellian future seems to be where things are headed.

I suggest we make solar powered chips the size of an atom or even smaller than building and connecting gazallions of maintenance requiring units. Not only now you need more energy , personal and space, pretty soon it is going to be obscellett.
