@lilliathings: Jaspe and I were once engaged in 2009. And all these years later, here we are again! They’ve existed in the background, and at times the foreground, of my life since we first met in 2008. When I lost my children, they called me and we cried together over it. When their mother died in 2013, I called them and we cried over it. In 2016, I’d made plans to visit with them for 2 weeks, though my plans fell through. In 2021, upon discovering that my then husband had been cheating on me for the second time in just the first 6 months of marriage, Jaspe invited me to go live with them in Ohio. I made plans then backed out of it. In 2024 & through 2025, Jaspe and I reconnected. And then, on the last day of February this year, when facing eviction through no fault of their own (roommates wouldn’t pay their share of rent, even though they paid theirs), I took them into my home. It was a tremendous leap of faith, one that I’d prayed about for close to a couple months. But they’ve been such a positive blessing in my life. They’re very helpful, and loving, and good to me and the babies. I love them endlessly. We often talk about what ifs—what if we had chosen differently at different intervals, would we have ended up together earlier?—and we’ve often fancied ourselves tied together as soul mates by an unbreakable yet invisible red thread (just like in Chinese folklore). Yet through it all, I’m happy things happened the way they did. Whatever it is, I thank God for Jaspe being in my life and I’m so so sooo looking forward to being their wife!!! Eeeee.
