I have books at both ends of the scale in my collection. Pristine books I've read multiple times and beaten up books falling apart that I've read once. I dislike judging people's bookshelves on the way their books look because everyone treats their books differently and sometimes it's the publishing quality that determines more than your care for the book.

Most spines of my books look like they’ve been in the trenches when I’m through with them, but that would never make me assume that others don’t take more care with theirs. That would be such an egocentric way to think about things, to assume everyone does things the same way i do.

I dont get the physical book vs audiobooks. Both versions go through the same stories we love or hate. Why cant we just enjoy the same damn thing together. I dont have the time to only read. I like audiobooks because they allow me to do other things while enjoying the same stories we read.

Just a small portion of my Ted Dekker books. All read in the 2000s and all in pristine condition. Most of my physical books look like this, even the mass market paperbacks. The only ones that don't are books I bought used. It's possible to do, if you care enough.

I mean.. most of my books look brand new. I take care of them mostly cause I resell anything that’s less than 4 stars or I wouldn’t recommend. The reread though? Oh yeah it’s getting annotated and rough treatment 💀

I read the mass market of Way of Kings and Words of Radiance and not a single crack in the spine. People that mess up their books are just reckless and don’t care, and that’s totally fine, but it is possible to read a book and keep it in great shape lol

Bro this video made me like you even more. Honestly people just wanna hate. I’m exactly like you. If I have a nice book, I can always read it on kindle to keep it nice too if I want to. Things happen when you read book but as a someone who does this as a hobby and collection I fully agree with this, and as I’m reading I’m applying effort to keep it nice for my collection. People got roaches I swear.
