It reminds me of the documentary of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina (When the Levees Broke) where the neighborhoods that weren’t getting help were predominantly black neighborhoods and low poverty neighborhoods. The government took FOREVER to help them leaving them without power and hardly any supplies to survive. It was awful and now Gary, Indiana with a high population of black people being without power for days?? Yeah it’s disgusting and inhumane.

As a African American advocate, Texas was the same way with the snow storms left ppl without HOMES because they weren’t equipped to handle sudden cold storms. We’re in tornado valley yet we still weren’t equipped for this stuff and ppl were making it hard for workers to work and the relocated them to other parts of Indiana for safety. The power outage wasn’t a race issue it was a ppl trying to work without losing there life issue. Everything else tho is spot on

My husband and I will be driving close to Gary in a few days during our roadtrip to our new house, I wish there was some way we could get in contact with people who need things we could bring them. We’ve donated but it just doesn’t feel like it’s enough :/
