@corbinneville84: Built a simple 18Ah LiFePO₄ portable power box to support my radio gear, phones, and other 12V equipment in the field. Shoutout to @District47.us for the sweet design. If you want one go checkout his Etsy page! For this test I had my Retevis RT95 Manpack powered on in receive while simultaneously charging my iPhone. The watt meter showed roughly: • 13.08V • 1.28A • ~16.5W total draw That’s the part I wanted to see for myself. Real-world power consumption instead of just guessing based on equipment ratings. The box gives me about 230Wh of nominal capacity, and everything runs through a fused master switch and watt meter so I can monitor exactly what the system is doing. Next up is testing the RT95 under transmit and seeing what the actual peak current draw looks like. 👀 We all run Manpacks with batteries in bags but sometimes it’s nice to have a backup in the vehicle or field when you’re in a pinch. Comms for the Common Man! #HamRadio #AmateurRadio #emergencycommunications #portablepower #prepping
I’ve been looking into getting one of yours I love the idea just got interested in ham radio. All I have right now is a boafeng uv-5r with signal stuff antenna
