@redditstories_doggo: My girlfriend has trouble eating and often gets very loopy randomly throughout the day, but every time I get genuinely concerned for her health she just brushes it off, so I told her she either gets it checked out or I'm checking out of our relationship. It sounds like an ED but it also sounds like celiac. Rejecting the doctor def makes it sound like an ED though.

You’re trying to help. You can only listen to someone and put up with that for so long. It gets old.

lol love how with "free" healthcare you can't even get a doctor even after years of waiting

For 2 years, anything I consumed, even water, would give me violent diarrhea and stomach cramps. Even randomly vomiting from time to time. I don’t go to hospitals unless I feel like I’m dying and that’s very rare. So, I understand her not going. I never found out what was wrong with me but it just randomly stopped a couple weeks ago.

oh I have that as well and to all people here who claim everything is an ED if you can't eat correctly are you ok? not everything is an ED just because you can't eat correctly or need to throw up afterwards. There are many medical reasons for it don't just jump to an ED and some people are just stubborn in seeing a doctor I was like that as well because of some past things that happened. that's like one of my friends was accused of being an alcoholic but now she had the Auto-brewery syndrome (ABS) a rare medical condition where microbes in the digestive tract ferment ingested carbohydrates into ethanol, causing actual intoxication without any alcohol consumption. so can we just stop with everything pushing to mental health problems?

I formed stomach ulcers from stress and struggled to eat properly from it. After a trip to the er, gastro, etc. I now take anti-acids everyday to tolerate foods that would my body would reject otherwise. So if any of you have a similar problem, try lansoprazole!! It’s been a miracle worker for me

i get these anxiety attacks where i will throw up for hours, get so dehydrated i cant even take the tiniest sips of anything, and end up in the hospital getting fluids pumped into me. it sucks but docs wont do anything except confirm its just anxiety. im glad she's getting the help she needs for her problems

Hey, he’s an ass for how he handled it but he absolutely had the right idea it’s absolutely not fair that this is on him as he said he is not a doctor.

didnt have this exact thing but in middle school i used to throw up daily, constant awful nausea, stomach pains, impossible to eat. doctors couldnt tell me anything, and it gets so insanely frustrating to be told youre faking it or exaggarating and being screened for ed over and over again so i emphasize with her just not wanting to deal with that. turns out the school i went to was badly infected with mold 🤷‍♂️i have unfortunately been left with lifetime chronic 24/7 nausea from it and issues with food 🙃 being chronically ill can be an incredibly isolating experience

why are you all guessing it's an ED he literally says what she had at the end. her liver doesn't function properly, of course she can't eat.

could be ed, allergies, stress, chronic illness - all the above and more. Whatever it is, you can only help so much when one doesn't want help

Went thru this, lost over 37kg in 3 month. Got sick from eating, eating started hurting too much so I just stopped. It was inflammation. Reoccurring every few months for seemingly no reasons. Found out animal protein causing flare ups, went vegan but STILL reoccurring but less. For me it was said colitis or chrohn (still under diagnosis…). Under flare ups I basically only eat avocado, sweet potato and aloe vera. Seemingly everything else makes it worse and literally sometimes even these are painful and feel disgusting. I’m also diabetic so I kinda just trying to drink something sweet to at least able to bear it. It hard as hell. You can’t go out dining with friends or travelling freely, have to plan your every meal and every toilet break and still get wrecked. I get bf hot scary. Under my first flare up my family thought I’m dying of cancer because I looked nothing like me anymore. Try the food I listed. Those are full of antioxidants and helps beating inflammation.

She's probably been seen many times and was told it was anxiety and to get therapy. YTA for not understanding reality for young women with chronic illnesses.
