Lorna Kapunan following a heated exchange during Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial. Panelo had said Kapunan should already “magpahinga” after the August 12 proceedings, which featured disagreements between the prosecution and defense over cross-examination rules, including the use of misleading questions and whether witnesses may be required to answer only “yes” or “no.” Ridon, however, said Panelo—not Kapunan—was the one who should take a break. “Actually, si Atty. Panelo ‘yong dapat magpahinga. Hindi ko nga alam kung ba’t siya nandito araw-araw,” Ridon said during a prosecution press conference. Ridon also questioned Panelo’s credibility as a commentator on the proceedings, recalling that he had previously questioned the impeachment trial itself. “More importantly, in the first weeks of the trial, hindi ba parang he was basically questioning the trial itself.
