I think the modeling behavior has to be the most important part right? Like no screen time means your young kids cannot see you doom scrolling on your phone. No eating in the car? You also can’t eat in the car. That has to be the hardest part for parents.

100% We don’t do kids’ music in the car. I honestly can’t stand it 😂 We have a TONI at home and he can play kids music if he wants. It plays music at a low volume, and I can walk away from it when I need to. He absolutely loves listening to our music and rocks out to it in the car. He knows no different. We all get to keep our sanity!

But one thing to keep in mind is if you for example “don’t want your kids having screen time” stick to it. Because that’s how you save yourself. Don’t go “oh just this one time because it makes life easy now” because it makes life harder later. And it’s never “just this once” you’ve exposed your child to something they will want. And it’s easy to not give a child something that they aren’t asking for compared to want they are screaming for it

Totally agree. I genuinely roll my eyes when someone says just wait just wait. Like wait for what? I have boundaries now as an adult for me. I’m sure as hell able to have boundaries and just never introduce something to a child. If it doesn’t exist in your life and home it’s so non issue.

When I was a nanny I had a rule the kids had to be sitting at the table/in high chair to eat - no walking around the living room with food. The mess was contained and they didn’t know any different. It was the best, I’m now doing it with my own baby because I can’t stand finding food and crumbs everywhere

At the risk of sounding like one of those old ppl- we didn’t have kids music to play at will in the car when I was growing up. We just listened to the radio and it was fine. Like the good old oldies are so nostalgic now

I’m being so fr, as a dog mom entering the family planning stage: training kids is literally the same as a dog until they reach a certain mental age. My dog never begged for food because it was a strict rule: he isn’t fed people food and if he is, it goes in his dish, not under the table. He only started begging once a former friend started sneaking him shit under the table.

I didnt have an iPad growing up and was fine. And my dad was a pastor, so I had to sit through mutable services, meetings, dinners, etc. I have raging ADHD too haha. Just bring a coloring book

We grew up with the rule that whoever is driving gets to pick the music, it was just never even a thought to ask for what we wanted to listen to. And then when we got our license it was the best feeling ever to pick your own music to drive to
