@hellofalife_55: We’re home from camping, so first things first… time to wake up Margaret & Millie. 🤍🍞 They both went into the fridge Wednesday night and came back out today. This was Millie’s (7 weeks old) first time in the fridge and Margaret’s (she’ll be two this coming February) first time in there in quite a while. I fed Margaret a 1:1:1 ratio using equal grams starter, water and flour. With Millie, I wanted to show that you don’t HAVE to weigh every feeding. I added water and flour until she reached that thick pancake batter consistency I like. A little over 3 hours later and look at the difference! Margaret is already at the top of her jar while Millie is taking her sweet time. And that’s okay. Margaret is a mature, established starter and Millie is still young and developing. This is such a good reminder not to compare your young starter to somebody else’s established starter. Give her time, keep feeding her, and watch what SHE does. And now that Margaret is wide awake… I’m baking tomorrow. Come back for my new Loaf It or Leave It - we’re trying a brand new sourdough flavor. #sou#sourdoughstarteru#sourdoughu#sourdoughtipsu#sourdoughforbeginnersurdoughbaking
what is the best way to feed before putting your starter to sleep in the fridge?😊

I’ve been watching your videos lately and really trust your sourdough knowledge more than anyone on here ! ☺️So with that being said I need HELP ! My sourdough will not rise 😭 My starter is about 1 month old . I made bread with it once and turned out great , but after feeding it after using it just never rose again ! and it’s really stressing me out ! 😭

Friend, weigh your clean jar and write it on the outside that way you don’t have to transfer her whole contents to know how much you’ve got 👌 Like this baby is 130g with nothing in her. When I weigh her and she shows 163g so I know she has 33g of starter in her 🫶🏻

How long can your discard last in the refrigerator? I’ve thrown a lot away because I’m not sure 🫣

I used your starter videos to make mine, my container wasn’t the best and got a little mold and a bug so i restarted. For a new starter do you have an idea how long it will take

I'm having a hard time with my starter. I'm on day 3 and my starter has a layer of liquid on top. What does that mean? Did I screw it up and need to restart?

One of the biggest thing I'm trying to figure out is how much I feed to have enough for all of the loaves I need to make. Also do I have to gradually feed over time to get enough?

Hi Shelly! Do you let them come to room temp before feeding? I know you said you didn’t for Margaret but what about Millie? My starter is about the same age as Millie but I always let her come to room temp before feeding before I use her. Thanks for all the tips!!
