Actually the officer is right. Its the owners responsibility, but also that of the operator to ensure the vehicle is in full compliance. The fact the driver didnt ensure it as fully compliant makes him guilty of operating a vehicle with an expired registration.
Seriously people, if you dont know basic driving laws do yourself a favor and research it before commenting.

One you sign the paperwork you take full responsibility for the car they why your supposed to do a walk around on the car before your drive off and there alway a registration sticker somewhere on the car either on the plate or on the windshield

yep he is right that's not his problem cops need to give ticket to enterprise company bcuz customer only rental a car from enterprise and they need to check before give to customer but I would say customer need to take the ticket on his name than file lawsuits against enterprise

It’s the registered OWNER’s responsibility not operator.

I would have asked the cop if he verifies the plates are valid when he’s renting a car, then i would have called him a goddamned liar.

Cops are told to give out bogus tickets when the county needs money just so they can charge a court fee when they show up. I was given a speeding ticket for only 5 miles over. That’s not even reduced. The judge threw it out, but said since I stepped foot in a court he was still charging me to court fine. It’s all a money grab

Liability sits with Enterprise. No it doesn’t. The car is owned by Enterprise they hold liability.

It’s the rental company responsibility, it’s the car owners responsibility not the driver.

The rental company is legally responsible for the registration and tags and all fines are taken care of by the company. When you rent a car it's assumed by the renter that the paperwork is up to date and valid.

I would accept the ticket and go straight and fight it. because at that point, it would be on record that he wrote a fraudulent ticket

It's not the renters' responsibility to pay for the tags. It is their responsibility to ensure the tags are legal because they're operating the rental vehicle.
