Her career began when she was just 10 years old. She rose to fame playing Mary Stone on The Donna Reed Show, where she also unexpectedly launched a singing career. In 1962, her song “Johnny Angel” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. She later released four albums and starred alongside Elvis Presley in three films: Girl Happy, Spinout and Clambake. Years later, Fabares found another major success on television as Christine Armstrong on Coach. The sitcom became a hit after NBC moved it behind Roseanne, and Fabares earned two Emmy nominations for her performance. Behind the scenes, Fabares also faced deeply difficult family experiences. Her mother battled Alzheimer’s disease, and Fabares later became an advocate for Alzheimer’s research and fundraising. In 2000, she received a liver transplant after being diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis. Fabares is survived by her husband, MASH* star Mike Farrell, and her stepchildren.
