the real story isn’t like that. They’re actually going through a family problem: the kid is asking their mom to divorce their dad, the mom refuses, so the kid threatens to commit suicide. The mom offers to buy them an iPhone, and actually the kid doesn’t really dare to actually do it, it’s just a bluff. That’s why when the dad tries to pull them back, the kid steps backward, thinking the distance is still far, but ends up slipping because the dad yanks too hard. And since the dad is holding the kid’s hand, they both fall together. The mom, seeing that, is shocked and jumps in too. The media now is scary, when they make up a narrative they like to add things to the story. Btw this source is from an Indian spectator who was actually there at the scene, but people only know the story as the kid forcing their mom to buy an iPhone, even though the real story isn’t like that.

stop spreading misinformation. the iphone was only used as a bargain to get him off the ledge. his parents were recently separated and his father was living away from their home months at a time. he had returned a few days before the incident and about 3 hours before the fall, the family got into an argument. the son almost jumped off this same cliff a year ago, before his parents and law enforcement persuaded him not to. Kunal was also their only remaining son, as his older brother passed 6 years earlier to an illness. this family was deeply struggling and it’s a shame the internet wrote THEIR story for them. all of this information is public, yet only a fabricated version is being reported.
