@c.e.o_eddy: Client says, “It’s expensive.” Don’t say, “It’s not expensive.” Don’t rush to reduce your price. And don’t start defending your price like you are in an argument. Here’s what to do instead. First, understand what the client is really saying. When someone says your price is expensive, they are not always saying, “I cannot afford this.” Sometimes they are saying, “I don’t yet see enough reason for this price.” That difference matters. The client is trying to compare what they are about to spend with what they believe they will get back. So if your first response is, “It’s actually not expensive,” you are talking about the price. But the client is thinking about the value. And if you immediately reduce your price, you may teach them something dangerous: that your original price was flexible all along. A business owner once had a client tell her, “Your service is too expensive.” Her first reaction was to offer a discount. The client still hesitated. So the next time it happened, she handled it differently. Instead of defending the price, she asked: “What part of the investment feels expensive to you?” That question changed the conversation. The client explained that they were comparing her offer with a cheaper option. Now she knew the real issue. It wasn’t simply the amount. The client was comparing two different offers as if they were the same. That is what you need to discover. Don’t fight the objection before you understand it. You can say: “I understand. When you say it feels expensive, is it the amount itself, or are you comparing it with another option?” Now you have something useful to work with. If they are comparing prices, explain the difference in what they are getting. If they genuinely cannot afford it, respect that. If they do not understand the value, explain the outcome, process, quality, support, or difference your service provides. The goal is not to force the client to agree that your price is cheap. The goal is to help them understand what they are actually paying for. That is how you handle price objections without destroying your value. This is one of the deeper communication skills I teach in The Client Code. It helps you understand client psychology, handle objections, communicate better, build trust, and stop losing opportunities because of simple communication mistakes.
