It was Hungarian wives and girlfriends who wanted me to teach their foreign husbands and boyfriends Hungarian. . I was shocked by the demand, but I also used it as motivation to create an intro course packed with history, culture, culinary tradition all the things that we love about being Magyar. Over the past couple of years I’ve taught over 100 husbands boyfriends wives, girlfriends, ex-pats, descendants of Hungarian and the spontaneously curious how to speak basic Hungarian. . Now this video is from over 2 1/2 years ago, and my skills back then were not nearly what they are today, but I would say to get up to this point is not impossible whatsoever. Not even remotely impossible. Look the best way to practice the language is to just have enough Magyar to be able to converse with people on the street: and that was my original goal I wanted to have or have the ability to have meaningful conversations with everyone in the country. An extrovert like me needs conversation to feel alive and the first few years living in Hungary we’re pretty difficult from that standpoint. But now I’ve reached that goal and more.
