What supplements can actually help with anxiety? There isn’t one “anxiety supplement” that works for everyone. But there are nutrients and herbs I commonly think about when supporting the nervous system, alongside looking at diet, stress, sleep and what may be driving the anxiety in the first place. L theanine is one of my favourites for supporting a calmer, more focused state, particularly when someone describes that constant mental chatter or overthinking. Omega 3 essential fatty acids are another consideration. EPA and DHA are important components of neuronal cell membranes and have been studied extensively in relation to brain and mental health. Then there’s magnesium, a mineral involved in hundreds of biochemical reactions, including pathways involved in nervous system function and the stress response. From a herbal medicine perspective, depending on the individual, we may consider herbs such as ashwagandha, saffron, passionflower, holy basil, magnolia and chamomile. But supplements are only one piece of the picture. I’m also thinking about adequate protein and healthy fats, omega 3 rich fish, nuts and seeds, plenty of plant foods, hydration and an overall Mediterranean style dietary pattern. And if anxiety is persistent or significantly affecting your life, this is where individualised care matters. Supplements shouldn’t replace appropriate medical or psychological support. Products mentioned in this video: 🌸 Herbs of Gold L Theanine 🌸 Herbs of Gold Triple Strength 🌸 Nordic Naturals Cod Liver Oil 🌸Herbs of Gold Stress Ease Shop our naturopath selected range at nourishingapothecary.com For individualised support, book a free Find the Right Practitioner call with Nourishing Apothecary.
