![In June 2007, Courtney Love was out of rehab and talking to 6 Music about her next solo album, then titled ‘How Dirty Girls Get Clean.’ (It later became Hole’s final LP ‘Nobody’s Daughter.’) “This is my best record,” she said. “Corgan’s on it from the Pumpkins, and Linda Perry, who out of my record got the @Green Day record. That’s a scoop. I just gave that away with my big mouth.” Within 24 hours, Green Day’s camp disputed the report, saying the band’s follow-up to 2004’s blockbuster ‘American Idiot’ would once again be produced by Rob Cavallo. Ultimately, 2009’s ‘21st Century Breakdown’ was helmed by Butch Vig instead. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and won the Grammy for Best Rock Album. In a new interview with ‘NME,’ Perry explained what happened from her perspective, calling the situation “fucked up.” The songwriter/producer — who was honored at last week’s Ivor Novello Awards — is currently prepping @4 Non Blondes’ first new album in 33 years. The band also has several shows coming up, including Red Rocks on June 6. Meanwhile, Green Day have been busy with side projects. At this weekend’s BottleRock, Tre Cool co-hosted the Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage and played in his wife Sara Rose Wright’s band the Chin Chins. On Thursday, Billie Joe Armstrong’s other band, Pinhead Gunpowder, announced a US tour. ’Nimrods,’ the coming-of-age comedy inspired by Green Day, hits theaters on August 14.
