the bus driver literally repeated back what you said, then later pretended he had no idea what you were talking about. this was also my experience in Italy, and many other places around Europe. People can be very rude and unwilling to help. especially if they know youre American

You kept saying "Bella bia" instead of Bella baia... now the problem is while baia means bay, "via" means street. And they're two different places.And I don't know how the public transport works in your country, but in Italy the bus doesn't "go" to a specific spot, it follows a route, sometimes between different cities, and you have to press the button to make it stop so you can get out when the bus arrived where you want to be
