What many civilians don't know is that as a guardsman, when you are deployed, you get military pay. While you are on leave from your regular civilian job your employer does not pay you. It's unpaid leave kind of like FMLA. For most guardsman, their civilian pay is much higher than their guard pay. So while your deployed in service to our nation, you endure a significant income & benefit loss. Guardsman are typically deployed for short uses like 2 weeks or less so as not to unduly burden them financially or burden their employer with the loss of a resource for an unknown period of time. So Trumps endless use of the national guard for zero benefit is extremely detrimental to the guard member, their family & their employer/job. Trump doesn't care 1 bit. He only cares about optics.

Serious question. At what point do we ignore that the military is “just following orders” as you said? ICE is just following orders. People who bombed Minab, same. Anyone complicit in anything going on is “just following orders”. I have so much respect and gratitude for veterans and people who serve. But this is a really slippery slope
