His cause of death was colon cancer. Apparently, he had it when he was on the force. When the incident happened, he was stage three colon cancer. Perhaps it's best if we don't have cops walking around terminally ill. That's just my opinion, but it makes a certain kind of sense when you think about mortal stress and how badly that can come out in a position of power.
