A proper throwback to the PS3 movie era game tie-ins 🔥 These 10 affordable under the radar titles brought some huge movie franchises to the console — and some are much better than you might expect! 1️⃣ The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena — 2009 ⭐ 9/10 One of the strongest movie-based games on PS3. You get the excellent Escape from Butcher Bay remaster plus the new Dark Athena campaign. Great stealth, brutal combat and Vin Diesel returning as Riddick. The game received generally favourable reviews, with an 82 Metascore. 2️⃣ Hellboy: The Science of Evil — 2008 ⭐ 7/10 A fun nostalgic brawler where you get to play as Hellboy, Abe Sapien and Liz Sherman. Ron Perlman, Selma Blair and Doug Jones returned to provide voices, and the game was created with involvement from Mike Mignola and Guillermo del Toro. 3️⃣ Conan — 2007 ⭐ 8/10 A seriously underrated PS3 action game! Big weapons, brutal melee combat and plenty of enemies to smash. The European PS3 release arrived in September 2007, making it one of the earlier movie/character-based games on the PS3. 4️⃣ Star Trek — 2013 ⭐ 7/10 A great collector’s piece for Star Trek fans. Kirk and Spock team up in an original story, with co-op gameplay and the Gorn as the main threat. It also features the voices of the 2009 movie cast and was three years in development. 5️⃣ Clash of the Titans — 2010 ⭐ 7.5/10 Take control of Perseus and battle through Greek mythology with gods, monsters and huge bosses. It’s based directly on the 2010 film but also adds original bosses and content. A fun hack-and-slash for collectors of movie tie-ins. 6️⃣ Ghostbusters: The Video Game — 2009 ⭐ 9/10 👻 Probably the must-have movie tie-in here. You join the original Ghostbusters team, with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson reprising their movie roles. It was designed as a continuation of the films rather than simply retelling them. 7️⃣ Men in Black: Alien Crisis — 2012 ⭐ 7/10 👽 A different take on the MIB formula. Instead of playing Agent J or K, you play a new agent called Agent P. It’s an on-rails shooter and was released alongside Men in Black 3. Frank the Pug even returns! 8️⃣ Fast & Furious: Showdown — 2013 ⭐ 6.5/10 🚗💨 Not the greatest racing game, but definitely an interesting piece of Fast & Furious history. Released in 2013, it focuses on arcade-style driving and co-op action, letting players team up against an international criminal gang. 9️⃣ James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game — 2009 ⭐ 8/10 🌿 A beautiful snapshot of the Avatar universe from the PS3 generation. You can experience Pandora and choose to fight for either the humans or the Na’vi, with different gameplay and environments depending on your side. It also supported online multiplayer for up to 16 players. 🔟 Terminator Salvation — 2009 ⭐ 8/10 🤖 A short but enjoyable third-person shooter set in the Terminator universe. It launched around the same time as the movie and puts you into the post-apocalyptic war against Skynet. Great atmosphere for Terminator fans and an interesting physical PS3 collectible today. What a collection on the PS3 😮‍💨 Some of these games were critically acclaimed, while others were overlooked or even criticised — but that’s exactly what makes collecting PS3 movie tie-ins so interesting. 🎮 Which one do you already own and would play first? #PS3 #PlayStation3 #PS3Collection #PS3Games #MovieGames - @retrorecovered
