yellow sabered jedi were mainly temple guards who were all jedi knights that weren't high enough to be masters but were stronger than typical jedi knights, at least I think that's it from what I'm remembering

he's the more troubled and impatient, vader can exploit his hate so it is the perfect victime to focus on, his master help him staying in position but when he died the yellow jedi is lost and now got trauma so free win for vader

I personally think it was because he had a strong anger and hate as you watch he is very aggressive and frustrated so I think Vader was trying to bring out the dark side in him and also to weaken his mind
