I did EVERYTHING right… so why did I gain 30 lbs? For most of my life, I never struggled with my weight. I’ve always been athletic. I’ve worked with a personal trainer, lifted weights, run 10Ks and half marathons, and generally taken really good care of myself. Then, about two years ago, perimenopause hit. And suddenly… my body changed. I gained 30 pounds and could NOT get it off. I tried everything. Every diet. Every workout plan. More exercise. Doctors. HRT. And despite doing what had always worked for me before, the weight simply would not budge. It was honestly one of the most confusing and frustrating things I’ve ever experienced because I didn’t recognize my own body anymore. Almost three months ago, I decided to approach it differently. I continued eating healthy. I continued working out. I continued prioritizing strength and my overall health. And I added a GLP-1 medication to my regimen. The difference has been incredible. I’m not trying to become “scary skinny.” That’s not my goal at all. I want to lose the excess weight, build muscle, feel strong, feel healthy, and feel like myself again. And after almost three months, I’m finally feeling like ME again. ❤️ I know GLP-1 medications are a hot-button topic. I also know people who use them can be judged pretty harshly. But I think we need to have a more nuanced conversation. For some people, these medications are simply a tool that can help address a problem their body is struggling with. When used responsibly, under appropriate medical supervision, and alongside healthy nutrition and exercise, I don’t believe someone should be shamed for using that tool. Especially women going through perimenopause, when hormones can change the way our bodies respond to food, exercise, metabolism and weight. If you’re in your late 30s, 40s, or going through perimenopause and suddenly feel like your body is playing by completely different rules… You are NOT alone. Sometimes our bodies change — and sometimes we need a different approach. I’m sharing my experience because I know there are so many women quietly struggling with this exact same thing. ❤️ If this sounds like you, follow along. I’ll be sharing more about my experience, what I’ve learned, and what’s actually helping me feel like myself again. #Perimenopause #GLP1 #WeightLossJourney #WomenOver40 #PerimenopauseWeightGain
