If everyone on the show was a complete dance novice, the show would be boring as hell! 😭 My big gripe is I would like someone other than Val, Mark and Dani to get one of the contestants with both a dance background or big fan base. I want to see Britt and Brandon in the final 😭❤️

as someone who grew up dancing competitively, those types of dance styles are SO DIFFERENT from the styles they do on DWTS. i have never done ballroom, the jive, etc and it would be hard af even with prior dance experience

Trista Sutter on Season 1 of DWTS was an NBA cheerleader which we all know is dancing not highschool cheering. she was eliminated first. The show clearly does not exclude people with dance experience they have never said it was a rule. Even the pros have said it doesn't give an advantage. I don't want to watch shitty dancers for 2 hours

at the end of the day, DWTS is a popularity contest 🤷🏼♀️obviously being a good dancer makes them more enjoyable to watch, but look how far Andy made it last season. whether you can dance or not is irrelevant if you have lots of people voting for you

i understand the sentiment but ultimately I end up LOVING it when they have a bit of experience bc their dances are soooo much more fun to watch. Whitney and charlis dances are some of my favourites in the history of dwts

A decade ago, sure it would have been an issue. But the past seasons have proved dance experience can’t guarantee safety from a shocking elimination against a rabid fanbase. Especially since Step Up was 2006 and Glee ended in 2015 so their dancing experience isn’t fresh in a person’s mind.

Jojo Siwa lost to Iman Shumpert so the dance experience isn’t a perfect formula for a win. The way they are liked/loved/their partner/the choreography etc. all play a big part.

As a viewer- could you imagine if they only cast people with ZERO dance or movement backgrounds? Do you really want to watch an entire season of dances like Andy Richter’s? (Love him, but his dance abilities were minimal) Can’t we at least agree that the show is more fun to watch when some of the stars are actually good?!?

I think if the show starts giving into that side of the debate and starts making blanket rules like “no previous dance experience” it will just snowball into so many blanket rules that no one can ever dance on the show

heavy on theoretically!! there are too many variables in a competition show to think having dance experience automatically skyrockets their chances of winning. literally anything could happen.

I will say that Hilaria Baldwin, the reason why she got out so fast because people don’t like her has nothing to do with her dance experience and it also wasn’t the best experience either because it’s been a while for her, but she got out early because she didn’t have the views
