Leave a #🐸 if you like! 🤭 Over the past couple of years, I had been searching for someone to make me a Victorian bathing suit, as it’s impossible to find existing garments of that sort where I live, and the few examples I found online seemed far too delicate to actually wear. This year, I decided that, despite my limited sewing experience, crafting my own men’s bathing suit during my summer holidays while recovering from COVID might be a manageable project. Unfortunately there was no Victorian pattern I could lay my hands on but luckily they had a 1920s men’s bathing suit pattern at @reconstructinghistorypatterns - I ordered elastane-free, @globalorganictextilestandard -certified cotton jersey from @kattun_stoffe since I couldn’t find a suitable historically accurate wool jersey. In the final stretch of the project, I figured out how to construct the trunks by inserting the gusset with French seams 🤪. After two weeks of steady stitching, the time flew by, and on the last day of my vacation, I decided to attach the trunks to the previously completed maillot with a simple running stitch, just to give it one quick jump into the lake before heading home.
