I’ve been recruiting teachers for 40 years. There is a huge shortage. Students are not going into College Education programs. The Main reasons are salary and benefits. Everything else mentioned here is important and contributes but money is the main reason.

I JUST resigned from my school because my administration team was killing me. The job wasn't sustainable anymore. I was physically ill and mentally exhausted.

No the shortage exists because teachers can’t afford to teach because parents and administrators don’t do anything for them

Yes! I taught for 20 years in public education, we need administration that thinks as you do. Unfortunately, you are a rarity.

Please as a first year teacher don’t make me feel stupid when I don’t know something that a 20 year veteran teacher knows.

Do you believe there is an appropriate way for a parent to ask a teacher to assign less busy work homework? My seventh grader has been up till midnight every night the school year working on incredibly long math assignments.

there is a teacher shortage because of more than just funding. there is no classroom support. society blames everything kids donon teachers. students are not held accountable for their actions at all

the most ironic thing I've ever heard is that teachers have to much busy work, not that they give it out to much

One of the reasons I quit teaching was I could no longer fail Students that deserved to fill my class. had a student that did not try on a single assignment. The entire year and still had a pass them because that was policy.
