Facilitated by Bosnian Serb military forces (Vojska Republike Srpske - VRS, the army formed by Serbs born and living in Bosnia and Herzegovina), wealthy foreigners from various Western countries paid large sums of money to be transported to sniper nests in the hills. They were not soldiers; they were "tourists" paying to hunt humans for sport. According to testimonies and evidence gathered for ongoing legal investigations, this system operated with a strict price list. The tourists paid different tariffs depending on the target. The highest fees were charged for the opportunity to shoot children and pregnant women. In contrast, shooting elderly civilians was allegedly offered for free. For decades, this remained a dark rumor. However, international justice is taking action. Prosecutors in Milan, Italy, opened a formal criminal investigation into citizens suspected of participating in these acts.
