@thetiktoklawyer: A cautionary tale in both side hustles and cover-ups. In short: neither are a good idea if you’re a lawyer. #lawyer #lawfirm #legalcareer #lawyersoftiktok
They only looked at his work after he was being made redundant? So he was already losing his job and then they looked into additional reasons for him to lose his job?

Them reporting him is so harsh and it feels like someone didn’t like him

45k for nearly 2 years is shocking. Shame on that firm, no wonder he needed another job. Every solicitor knows the SRA show no mercy if you lie though, that's his issue.

IDGAF what the reason is. If you are paying 45k for such a skilled job, you have no right to tell me what I can do and can’t do

So if someone cannot survive on their salary and decides to find other sources of income instead of increasing their salary they struck him off? So ridiculous, they’d rather you starve.

They were definitely jealous of his extra earnings because reporting him is too far. Unless it was affecting his main job, I don’t see the need ?

£45k for two years of work as a professional is ludicrous. No wonder he had a second gig. Shouldn’t have lied about it but this is a complete joke - prohibitions against moonlighting should not be allowed. Hope he makes a great deal more as a consultant.

He wasn’t struck off for having a secondary income. He was struck off for lying about it when his employer found out and asked him about it. When his employer asked him, he said that his brother’s job paid their wages into his bank account.

Why is nobody questioning the fact that this man's entire career has been robbed from him? Just because he decided to work in an unconventional way. He couldn't tell his employer because it wouldn't be allowed, but it's entirely reasonable for him to do side work. This is an example of the "machine" that we're all captured by—destroying a career.

How is solicitor only earning £45,000 from their main job over a one year and eight month period? That’s a salary of £27k a year…
