Singapore will increase childcare leave such that the more children a parent has, the more leave he or she will get, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced in his National Day Rally speech on Sunday (Aug 23). Outlining the new arrangement, Mr Wong said every working parent would get 8 days’ childcare leave if they have one child, up to the age of 12. They would get 10 days if they have two children, and 12 days with three or more children. “When you add it up, the increase is significant,” he said, noting that a working couple with three children would get 24 days’ childcare leave in all, up from four days currently. #NDR2026 #sgnews #singapore
More Malay/Muslim Singaporeans are making their mark across various sectors, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong noted in his National Day Rally speech on Sunday (Aug 23). In his Malay speech, Mr Wong noted that they serve with distinction in the public service, the SAF, the judiciary, professions, business and many other fields. “They are contributing to Singapore’s progress, while remaining firmly rooted in their community and heritage,” he said. “That’s exactly what we want to see – not just a strong Malay/Muslim community, but Malay/Muslim Singaporeans making bigger contributions to Singapore.” #NDR2026 #sgnews #singapore
