Call it ignorance or whatever you want, but this is my two cents: some of this new-age Kikuyu spirituality reminds me of religious pastors who sell fear instead of teaching knowledge. They point out obvious problems in society, then when it comes to solutions, you’re either told to seek them out or follow their instructions. There’s a huge knowledge gap when it comes to Kikuyu traditional teachings. What worries me is that those who claim to have the knowledge often seem more interested in guarding or monetizing it than sharing, documenting, and preserving it. If we truly want to reconnect with our traditions, we need knowledge, research and open discussion not fear, secrecy and dependency.
