🇬🇧🏰 Magical castle day trip from London ⬇️ If you’re looking for a fairytale escape from the city, Hever Castle is one of the most beautiful (and historically fascinating) places to visit in England. Tucked away in the Kent countryside, this 13th-century double-moated castle was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII and mother of Queen Elizabeth I. Walking through its grand halls will transport you back to Tudor times, it’s quite surreal knowing you’re taking the same steps Anne did, separated only by time. 
 The castle itself has seen many lives: after the Boleyns, it was owned by Anne of Cleves, another of Henry VIII’s wives, before falling into ruin and being beautifully restored in the early 1900s by American millionaire William Waldorf Astor, who transformed it into a lavish family home.

Today, Hever Castle is open to the public, surrounded by 125 acres of manicured gardens, rose-filled courtyards, and a lake perfect for a peaceful stroll or a picnic in the sun. Don’t miss the award-winning Italian Garden, created to showcase Astor’s collection of classical sculptures, or the Yew Maze, one of the oldest in England. 🚆GETTING THERE From London: take a 40-minute train from London Bridge or London Victoria to Edenbridge Town Station, then hop in a quick 10-minute taxi to the castle. Alternatively, if you’re driving, it’s around a 1.5-hour journey from Central London, with plenty of free parking available on-site. 🎟️ TICKETS Entry to the gardens costs £19.35, while a full castle and garden ticket is £24.65 for adults.
