When I was a child my uncle and his wife use to lock my cousin in his room with bars. Back then they didn’t know how to deal with ADHD, autism and anxiety. He was very destructive when he was not in a room that he couldn’t hurt himself in. I used to feel horrible because he would beg us to let him out. I saw him years ago, at a family funeral, many years had gone by, and he clearly was sedated. I guess medicine was what they were using to control his outbreaks. Honestly, I think both scenarios are extremely sad!
