@drbotyler: Does being productively hyperactive mean you don’t really have ADHD? Not at all. In a society that tells us we are trash for not always doing, for some ADHDers, doing things is the only way we can check out and keep from spiraling into the self attacking thoughts of our ADHD minds; or it is our constant answer to our inner critic to say, “See, I am not worthless.” It is also a sometimes the only foil we have to people who want to interrupt us or antagonize us because just sitting alone or doing something that we enjoy to get dopamine gets sidetracked or criticized by them. So many days it feels like, God help me if I sit down for 15 minutes between work appointments and am smiling at a funny video on my phone if I don’t get asked to take care of a task or for a piece of information. But if I take out the trash, or vaccume the carpet while listening to music, I get a bit of a break from thinking without being asked to switch my attention to a different cognitive task. #adhd #hyperactive #audhdh
