If you’ve found yourself thinking: “I can only get a minimum-wage job.” “I’ll never be able to retire.” “I’ll always struggle financially.” “I missed my chance to build a career.” I want you to stop and question that conclusion. These are three questions I ask myself when I start doubting my ability to make a living after divorce: 1. Why do I believe this can’t be done? Where did that belief come from? Is it actually based on evidence—or is it simply a story I’ve repeated enough times that it feels like a fact? 2. What if that’s not true? What if there is another path I haven’t considered? What if there is an opportunity I haven’t seen yet? What if I don’t have to follow the traditional path? 3. Have other people in similar situations figured it out? If someone else has faced difficult circumstances and found a way forward, why am I assuming I can’t? Here’s the thing: You and I aren’t special. People throughout history have faced extraordinary circumstances, overwhelming odds, and seemingly impossible situations—and found a way through. So I’m not interested in deciding ahead of time that my future is limited because my past was difficult. And I’m not interested in accepting that for you, either. Question the assumption. Look for another angle. Find people who have done it. Then figure out what you can learn from them. You may have a lot of rebuilding to do. That doesn’t mean your future is already decided. #StartOverStrategy #DivorcedFormerTradwife #FinancialIndependence #StartingOverAfterDivorce #WomenAndMoney
