if you buy the right appliances initially you can generally repair alot of the problems in them yourself, Ive repaired a handful of different models of pretty much every major home appliance and the only things I can't normally get fixed is bad design or refrigerant systems

I'd also argue regardless if you can repair the thing or not if you own a chest freezer you need to have very big coolers laying around in the area. going to need it whether it's emergency repair or it's routine maintenance.
