@morgaanfoley: Sharing my little autism spiral of the day… (spoiler I made it home, I did cry and freak out a bit in the airport, but everything worked out) #actuallyautistic
the amount of times I folded on the floor asking "why can't I just be normal" is more then I'd like to admit

I am so sorry for how you feel but, even regular people get their energy drained during long trips like that, the fact how being on constant going out and tripping everyday for a month is exhausting. And definitely the feeling of going home will shutdown your mind. That’s not about autism its more about being in a long trip. Just prepare well for it, your travel documents and ID goes to separate pocket in your bag with cash money, your phone, headphones and powerbank goes in another pocket in your bag. Have some snacks and sweets with you. Then You will be okay, don’t worry. Just prepare well

I do this so much. I have SO MANY debilitating issues that I spiral out of control hating myself because “I could do xyz if I wasn’t”

woah i never think if i weren't autistic things would be better/easier/said problem wouldn't exist...i always think if the world were built by neuro-divergents then there wouldn't be any "problems" to "handle". so i guess my spiral is me thinking the world needs to be more autistic 😆 still a spiral but I don't end up hating myself. hopefully that's something you can try and hopefully it helps 🥰

was just doing this last night with my adhd and task initiation, I was getting frustrated with myself for being unable to start something new to watch, it takes one click of a button, I couldn't understand why I couldn't just start, even though it would be fun. I wish I knew the answer for this 🙃

Brazil loves you 💖 come to Florianópolis next time (november or late march is a nice time to come, calmer and it's still warm (but not too much). I'm autistic as well and that's my favorite time of the year in the island

Hi! I'm limp :] :
OR when you realise youve been making mistakes in how you treated people beacuse you didnt understand right how it would affect them and you feel like you can only be either good or bad

I'm so sorry that's been happening 🫂 it honestly does suck to have those feelings. I know for sure I've had the same realizations traveling, but what helps to combat the self hate is to eventually acknowledge and accept it for what it is. your body is probably just catching up and processing this anxiety in an autistic way. youre doing a good job of just letting the emotions happen. if you end up having a shutdown, it's what it is but hopefully you can give yourself a little grace knowing it's part of the disability

I am so sorry. I hope your travel goes well. But this actually gave me some things to think on. My oldest is autistic and learning Chinese. I want to take them to China in a year, and knowing that this kind of burn out could affect them is good to know and help plan for. Thank you for sharing, and again, I hope you have/ had good travel!

don't hate yourself for something you can't change instead talk to yourself like you would talk to your friend. give yourself the accommodation you need in this moment...whatever it is. be kind to yourself because you deserve kindness and grace.
