:Obviously, the teacher’s wife must have been deeply distressed if the students had misbehaved with her or treated her disrespectfully. They may have harassed or intimidated her to such an extent that she felt compelled to call her husband for help. Naturally, a wife would turn to her husband in such a situation because he is the person she expects to protect her dignity and safety. The husband came there, apparently out of anger and concern for his wife’s honour and safety. But then, as shown in the video, the situation escalated further. The students can be seen pushing and assaulting the teacher and even physically confronting the woman, while the army personnel was also being attacked. At that point, what could an army officer reasonably do? It appears that he fired in an attempt to protect himself and his wife and to prevent the situation from becoming even more dangerous. From the video, the firing appears to have been directed into the air rather than at the students, and there is no clear indication in the footage that he intentionally shot or injured any student. The situation should therefore be understood in its full context rather than judging the incident from a single moment or a short video clip.
