I think it’s because they sent those nanotech stuff first, thinking it would be enough to kill her in the first minutes.. but it could not kill her because her suit was very well sealed, and when they realised it, it was too late to send the drones, she was already in silo 17… And, when she was coming back, they had no idea she was leaving the silo 17, they were not prepared..

My thoughts is when there is a cleaning the AI system does not see that person as a threat. Supposedly they won’t make it past the hill. If it’s NOT scheduled the drones are activated.

I’m thinking Juliet was sent out with no ulterior motive but to die in the wasteland, Lukas and Patrick were not scheduled to clean, they got sent outside to another silo which already violates the silo to silo contact, which ALSO doesn’t make sense cause Jules made it to 17. I’m guessing Jules was safe because she wasn’t meant to go back, or whatever the danger is outside can be manipulated depending on who and why they are outside

The contamination is sprayed on them when they leave the silo. The tape in supply prevented Jules from getting sick and dying. Lucas left before the contamination could be sprayed on them and the minute this was discovered the drones were sent after them. This is why Silo 17 got so far outside. They weren’t contaminated by spray from the exit, they were all gunned down by the drones. The outside is not contaminated it’s just desolate.

Lucas had a radio and his wound was where his radio was. Juliette did not have radio and/or radio frequencies. When we saw Charlotte’s plane during her mission, the nano bots were on her radio so I suspect it has something to do with frequencies

They spray them before sending them out that gas gets into the suit because tape is poor quality on purpose, they switched the tape, she have good tape, they didn’t know, they thought she would die. She didn’t and walked to silo 17 before they can even react, and before coming back to silo 18 they had no idea if that gonna happen so…. Its not that deep bro

They didn’t know Juliette had the good tape so they didn’t need drones to kill her, and the second time they didn’t know she was going to leave 17 and come back to 18 so they didn’t have enough time to kill her. But when Lukas and Kennedy were going to 18 they were already planning to kill them and they had the good tape so they needed to shoot them down. It’s not hard to understand

when Lucas left they were expecting him to leave so they had the drums on standby until he got over the hill. with Juliet, they had no idea until after she went over the hill giving her enough time to make it to 17 before they really realized what was happening

when someone leaves for a clean, they have compound sprayed on them. once they get through the chamber, the chamber then ignites. they don't use drones for cleanings because 1) everyone is watching and 2) the compound is used when they leave the silo. Juliette survived because when she was sprayed, they didn't know she had good tape so they didn't prep the drone, same as for when she returned - they didn't know when she left because they had cut comms with silo 17 more than 30 years prior
