@thespiritofnevada: What was life really like inside Nevada’s first mental hospital? This week on Spirit of Nevada, we meet up with historian Brett Banks in Sparks to explore the historic site, originally known as the Nevada Insane Asylum. #paranormal #insanity #History #hauntedplaces
Brett is the best! She is so knowledgeable and she does so much to preserve our history here in NV. So proud to call her a dear friend of mine 🫶🏼

I looked up why a sunburn would get someone locked up. Apparently they used to think a sunburn would cause the brain to become damaged.

When I was 12 or 13 me and some friends were riding our bikes on the river trail I really had to go to the restroom and I went in this place and asked if I can use a restroom. When I got inside I just remember hearing people screaming everywhere. It scared the shit out me, literally.
