Also to add NO him and Aerith are not lovers the reason he feels anything towards her is because he has Zack’s memories if you ship cloud and Aerith you 100% have never played the games!

And the fact that for now , he has no” happy “ ending,cloti fans aren’t excepting the fact that he doesn’t end up living the way they want him to , no stable realationships , romantic or plotanic , he didn’t marry her and live happily after , he ghosted her and everyone else including his own kid , he spent two years js in a spirel of thoughts about aerith, zack, and seph , the sher amount of guilt and regret crushing him daily, he doesn’t end up playing house with her not because he doesn’t care for her and others , but because he can’t bring himself to let go of his own guilt , and that’s what i find so tragically beautiful about him, it’s canon that he’s not angry at seph (not anymore) so that anger is at himself, no one else , his story isn’t about finding true love , it’s much deeper than that

As an OG FFVII fan (before the remake etc, but not during the release of Adventure Children) I think the remakes reached an audience with little to nothing media literacy. Cloud went to a good traumatized protagonist with unreliable narrator trope to a "handsome guy", which is the same effect that happened to Leon Kennedy in the remakes too.

Im still learning the story and fandom and I've watched other game plays and played the game and (still playing actually so I might not know some stuff🥹) what I think about the fandom is that they always put the looks first, I noticed it specifically on Cloud, Sephiroth, Zack and Vincent, I keep seeing edits of Sephiroth with just people glazing his looks without knowing the story, the game nor the lore behind him. And when you ask them about the lore of the characters, they'd either way something that they believe is right or stay quiet. I know cause I have , multiple friends who keeps larping FF. Btw peak this is underrated this deserves more likes 🥹♥️

I wouldn’t say he’s cold hearted and uninterested it’s just that apart of cloud is him trying to act like a “cool guy” so he tries to pretend he doesn’t care about things when deep down he does, comes across way more in the remakes now that you can actually hear the tone of his voice and the way he holds himself/facial expressions, I’m so excited for the next game to come out and for us to see more of cloud truly being himself because it was one of my favourite parts of the original

People's view on Cloud also change depending on how they entered the fandom. You have the fans who played OG FF7 first, the ones who played Crisis Core first, the new fans with remake, and the ones who only know him from KH. There's so much nuance to him but too many people have biased takes that won't change unfortunately. My take is play OG 7, ignore CC, and then play the re-series.
