@cbsmiami: Klay Thompson has signed a two-year, $11.5 million deal with the Miami Heat after clearing waivers Sunday. The 36-year-old sharpshooter, who ranks fourth on the NBA's all-time 3-pointers made list, gives Miami the shooting it wanted to surround newly acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo and center Bam Adebayo. Thompson is a career 41% 3-point shooter and has made more than 200 3-pointers in a season 11 times. He also brings a winning pedigree, having helped the Golden State Warriors win four NBA championships alongside Stephen Curry as part of the famed "Splash Brothers" duo. The move is the latest major addition for the Heat, who also acquired Bobby Portis with Antetokounmpo and signed 3-point threat Tim Hardaway Jr. Thompson agreed to a buyout with the Dallas Mavericks after two seasons that fell short of expectations. Dallas had acquired him to play alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, but Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2025, Irving suffered a season-ending ACL injury and Anthony Davis was later traded to Washington, leaving the team Thompson originally joined in a very different situation.
