@budapesttoday: A Budapest spot you shouldn’t skip: Margaret Island 🌿🇭🇺 If you’re visiting Budapest and want a break from the busy city centre, spend a few hours on Margaret Island — a huge green island in the middle of the Danube, right between Buda and Pest. It’s one of the best places in the city for a slower afternoon. You can walk or cycle along the island, relax under the trees, visit the Japanese Garden, see the musical fountain, explore the ruins of the medieval Dominican convent, or simply find a spot by the river and enjoy the views. 🌳🚲🌊 One of my favourite things about Margaret Island is that you can see Budapest from a completely different perspective. The bridges, Buda hills and city skyline surround you, while the island itself feels surprisingly peaceful. And right now, the Danube’s low water level is creating some interesting little spots along the riverbanks — including a great viewpoint underneath the bridge. 👀 ✨ Tip for tourists: Come in the late afternoon and stay until sunset.
