It sucks that kids take it out on themselves. They have more thought about their actions than the grown adults who are supposed to take care of them.

one of the lingering effects of it is feeling disgusted when you see someone being needy. My dog will roll over persistently for belly scratches (completely innocent), and I feel disgusted by his neediness. It's fun discovering things like this a little later in life

What is that? My mom loved a crisis. But day to day? Couldn’t be bothered.

I always thought I hid my issues so well and that's why my parents didn't notice, but now looking back at pictures of my younger self, I looked really bad. I looked physically ill, and it's really hard to come to terms with the fact that they did indeed see it, they just didn't care.

anytime I felt unwell, my mom was MAD. so I learned to hide any pain/etc for the most part because I didn't want to get yelled at

i literally ran off after an argument and the general consensus to these people is i’m “running off to k myself again”, my fiance chases me down and brings me back to the house (i was just getting space) and they refuse to acknowledge me when i come back sobbing and in tears. tell me that i hurt my mothers feelings by arguing with her. i told them, but what about my pain? their response was “im making it about myself”

Your videos are so validating. It’s so hard to explain this to people around us sometimes, like you have to explain the narcissistic nuances of neglect, but I found a lot of tranquility in your page! Thank you !!

My mother does the exact same thing reading every sign on the road and observing the surface level of all of life while ignoring the entire emotional world. I am 35 and still snap at her no matter how hard I try not to. It’s so much worse now these last ten years after she got involved in the cult of maga and my rage has never been more present. We can’t talk about anything not even surface level anymore.

I mean it's self explanatory. If they're emotionally stuck at 3-10yo, they will naturally act that way. And most don't want to put in the work to get better, so let them, thank them for showing u who u don't want to be and move on.

You detach from them emotionally to protect yourself and instead of fixing or even acknowledging their neglect of their own child’s emotional state they take it as a personal attack.

I came down with a mystery illness out of nowhere and I was telling my mom I was going to a different doctor specialist every day while trying to juggle two jobs, not knowing what was wrong me and partially disabled. I told her how terrified and exhausted I was. She said nothing and then I kid you not, 5 seconds later she says; “so are you dating anyone?” I feel bad because I snapped but I just couldn’t believe it 😭

Eclectic Elune :
As a child, I was always sent to my room whenever my emotions became too much for my parents to handle. It taught me how to push my emotions down and to ignore them. Then the emotional bottle would burst and so much rage would come out at once and I would again be sent away to go calm down. Ive been learning how to sit with the emotions as they come up. its so difficult to unlearn these toxic programs.
