@joecoxtech: Windows has settings that aren't in Settings. Five registry edits worth making, and the export habit that keeps them safe. #windows #TechTips #itpro #troubleshooting #registry
IT professional here, and I was fully prepared to go "meh" at the start of this video. Actually they are all useful, and I already had some of them enabled. Just a confirmation that these aren't bull.

Medic Mister Wiskers :
Do not under any circumstances disable the char limit for filenames in windows. At best it can break shit and at worst easily lead to corruption. There is 40 years of legacy code that can and will react in wildly unpredictable and unexpected ways. You will also be breaking compatibility with any other windows system that does not have this registry value set. Do not do it.

Need to be careful on telling people about extending the character limit. Although in a Windows domain with current servers, that would be fine, anybody using SharePoint online and syncing those folders are gonna have a real bad time.

I highly recommend increasing the default logging from the windows event logs.
also you'd be impressed with what I can learn about you from just your registry, almost everything Microsoft tracks is in your registry

If you don't like registry edits or don't want to remember all these can be done from Chris Titus Techs Utility. Plus lots of other things.
